Late Bloom is both an elegy and celebration of middle-age male eroticism and the fluidity of a body’s gendered expression. Evoking vintage blue movies, photographs and nude models’ poses, this lyrical work, like many of Sparling’s video self-portraits, explores gender and the male persona via the dancing body.
