A ninety-year-old man plays a tune over his humble upright piano. It’s the dawn of his wedding anniversary, and his mind wanders to his beloved late wife. Sparked by a yearning to reconnect with his love, he searches through a home filled with memories to find what he hopes will bring her back to him, if even for a moment. He sifts through boxes of rusty parts, faded photos, and worn shoes to no avail. Then finally, in the recesses of his handyman’s shed, he finds the object of his desire—a vintage answering machine. But when he sits down with this improbable time portal, he is interrupted by several surprise guests. And as he pushes “play,” the room fills with a love that overcomes grief.
