This is a look inside a small community of dedicated year-round surfers who choose to make time from the bustle of modern urban living and meet up at different beaches in Indiana, in the shadow of Chicago as well as big industrial interests whose factories dot the southern shores of Lake Michigan, on each and every north wind that blows down Lake Michigan. With interviews from 19 different humans who have a combined total of over 300 years of experience surfing on the Great Lakes, “Southend: The Place Where I Go Surfing” tells the stories of 3 different popular surf Beaches in Indiana, as well a providing some stories and insight from the first generation of Humans to earnestly pursue surf-able waves on Lake Michigan.
