Tapes is a short film that examines themes of solitude, surveillance and ego. Tapes stars OURMAN, a young man who can’t stop filming his every waking moment – he uses 8MM Tape and MiniDV to show the audience his therapy sessions, daily life, and relationships. His tape is damaged, with lines running through almost every frame, abstracting the world outside of his lens even further. Tapes is meant to be a hyperbolic representation of our modern world, a world where one’s own point of view is constantly reinforced – allowing personal opinions to grow unimpeded by reality.
