Parallel encounters involving four people reveal continuity between different geographies and time periods (1930s Canadian prairies and contemporary Andalucia). Sand explores how, in a world of continual transformation, human connection offers a form of stability. Relationships, in other words, create pattern and design across time and space. The story evolves through minimal dialogue, movement and gesture. The grainy quality of the film (shot in 16mm) provides a visual texture that further embodies many of the eroding landscapes depicted in the film.
